With regard to pool construction there are Europe-wide safety requirements, defined in DIN EN 16582, which are valid for privately used swimming pools. In addition, the standards group has presented a policy concerning filtration systems, circulation systems and treatment (DIN EN 16713). We recommend this publication from the Beuth series, which specifies the general safety and quality requirements as well as swimming pool test procedures for private use:
